RACE 6- #6 HYPE HOUSE (9-2) is a bet back for me. This one last raced on 9/11 at Kentucky Downs, seemed to break ok that day and immediately was outsprinted and found herself last throughout the entire race. Made a run from there and ran evenly at best to be 5th while widest of all, but simply had too much to do. We all know Shug McGaughey is much better second out and this one is royally bred being by Candy Ride out of Carrumba (15-4-6-3, 621k). Should appreciate the extra 1/16th of a mile today and the pedigree suggests even farther. Love the work on 9/24, 2nd best of 99 and also love the switch to Tyler Gaffalione. RACE 8- Why is #5 GUNITE 4-1 on the morning line? I am not complaining and hopefully we get all of that because I think he can easily repeat in this spot. The win last out was a dominant performance winning the G1 Hopeful albeit the big favorite Wit stumbling badly at the start and costing him the race. He will try to get his revenge against Gunite but with the gate problems and the fact he will be overbet makes me like Gunite even more. This one is bred to stretch out being by Gun Runner and trainer Steve Asmussen is a solid 20% going sprint to route. Keep in mind the other two contenders, #2 MY PRANKSTER and #3 JACK CHRISTOPHER are both coming off big maiden wins, both earning a 92 Beyer and that usually means regression is looming so why take the chance. RACE 10- #3 ART COLLECTOR (3-1) will be my pick in here under Luis Saez. The biggest reason is the pace advantage he holds over his main competition and he has been razor sharp since moving to the Bill Mott barn. Comes into this off 5 weeks and I like the Saratoga work pattern since the win in the G2 Charlestown Classic. 4 for 4 at the distance and has the back class to show up again. The nice part is, this one can win on the lead or sit just off so Saez has options in this race. SUGGESTED PLAYS: Win bet on #3 ART COLLECTOR.
RACE 11- Closing out the day with a 40k maiden claimer and of course I have a bet back in the race and that is #3 MAJESTIC SKY (6-1) for trainer John Kimmel. The first two turf attempts produced two 2nd place finishes and then he followed that up with two tough trips racing wide in both of those. Last out had absolutely ZERO shot as he broke from the 12 hole, was about 6-7 wide into first turn and then raced at least 3-4 wide the rest of the race. Tried outside of the 1/4 pole and made up some ground but it was over from the start. Has faced some repeat winners in Fast Gordon and Orb in the Tower. Draws a more favorable post and expect this one to make some noise with a clean trip at a square price. Has not missed a beat training since the last race and comes in fresh today.
