CHESTNUT STREET | 4yo/Filly, Scat Daddy-Near and Dear (Red Ransom) | 6/24/18 Belmont 10th Race-2nd beaten a head | Chad Brown | Made the list after her first career start when closing well into slow fractions and galloping out past entire field. Improved big time last out losing the head bob at the wire to a Bill Mott runner. Both ran extremely well and will win next out but will probably be odds on. |
SNAP DECISION | 4yo/Colt, Hard Spun-Salute (Unbridled) | 6/9/18 Belmont Park Race 10-6th by 4 1/2 lengths | Shug McGaughey | Has had a couple of questionable rides by Jose Ortiz and should be able to fire soon with a good trip. Shug always dangerous and look for this one to offer some value. |
COVE BLUE | 3yo/Colt, Ghostzapper-Need (Strong Hope) | 5/28/18 Churchill Downs Race 8-1st by 4 3/4 lengths | Dale Romans | Had this one when he broke his maiden back at Gulfstream in January. Think this one will run best as a sprinter, and think 7 furlongs is his best distance. Has ability and could make some noise this summer for Romans at the Spa. |
UNBRIDLED REBEL | 4yo/Colt, Unbridled's Song-Joffe's Run (Giants Causeway) | 6/3/18 Churchill Downs Race 10-1st by 4 lengths | Brendan Walsh | Has been pretty good and would not be surprised if trainer Brendan Walsh brought this one to Saratoga as he really knows how to improve a horse. |
ODIE | 2yo/Colt, Scat Daddy-Wish Granted (El Corredor) | 5/25/18 Belmont Race 2-6th beaten about 8 lengths | Wesley Ward | Went off the 3-5 favorite sprinting on the turf for the first time. Broke from the insdie post which can be disastrous with that left turn out of gate. Checked twice and should be much better next out with a clean trip. Not sure of value but should continue the Wesley Ward train rolling. |
HIGHLAND SKY | 5yo/Gelding, Sky Mesa-Kristi with a K (Petionville) | 6/24/18 Belmont Park Race 8-1st by a neck | Barclay Tagg | Always have been a fan of his and he really ran well in his last start while taking a significant amount of money (8-1 morning line, opened at 4-1). Really think this one is going to have a strong 5 yo season. |
MESSI | 8yo/Gelding-New Approach (Ire)-Messina (Ger) (Dashing Blade-GB) | 6/24/18 Belmont Park Race 8- 7th by 10 3/4 lengths | Graham Motion | Was part of a brutal pace which ended up folding and won by closers. Will be 3rd off the layoff next out and should be looked at one time when he runs. |
FACT CHECK | 4yo/Colt, Yes It's True-Cupolatte (Giacomo) | 5/25/18 Belmont Race 5-3rd beaten 1 3/4 lengths | Jason Servis | Had to check a couple of times throughout the race and still ran on in the stretch to be ok. Had the entire stretch to go by, but did rally a little and will think this one is better next time out. |
AVERY MAEVE | 5yo/Mare, Awesome of Course-Crowninshield (Aldebaran) | 6/15/18 Belmont Park Race 5-3rd beaten 1 1/4 lengths. | David Cannizzo | Hung a little last out while making her 2nd start off the December 1st layoff. Went off the 5-2 favorite in that start and will give another shot with this one. |
SARGEANT DRIVE | 3yo/Colt, Tapit-Carriage Trail (Giant's Causeway) | 5/25/18 Belmont Race 9-6th beaten about 4 lengths | Shug McGaughey | Came off a 2.5 month layoff and ran good while taking a good amount of money. Was loaded at the 1/4 pole and got blind switched top of the stretch by the eventual winner and was in tight in the stretch. I will be betting a TON next time and look to catch this one at a good price. |
CUMBRIA | 4yo/Filly, Distorted Humor-Honoria (Sadler's Wells) | 6/24/18 Belmont Park Race 4-3rd by 2 1/2 lengths | Jimmy Jerkens | It looked like this one had a perfect trip stalking off the runaway leader, but Junior had the choke hold on and the filly looked uncomfortable. Had first run, was game to the finish and ran an ok race. Will look to improve off of this and should be given another shot. |
ROYAL POWER | 3yo/Gelding, Orb-Black Escort (Southern Halo) | 6/24/18 Belmont Park Race 5-9th beaten 32 1/2 lengths | Gary Gullo | Took good early money breaking from the rail dropping from MSW races making his first start since October 14th. Had a little bit of an awkward start and could make some noise at a big price running for cheap this summer. |
GABRIELLA | 3yo/Filly, Lemon Drop Kid-Distortion (Distorted Humor) | 6/24/18 Belmont Park Race 10-6th by 10 1/4 lengths | Todd Pletcher | Swerved out at the break from the far outside post and was far back early. Made up some ground, but ultimately tired. Should be better with a clean break next time with a better post. |
GAUGUIN | 12/1/18 Aqueduct Race 1-3rd by 3.5 lengths | Bill Mott | Ran pretty good all things considered, closed well into slow fractions while down inside. Look for this one down in Gulfstream this winter.
LION DANCE | 12/2/18 Aqueduct Race 2-5th by 7 3/4 lengths | Jimmy Jerkens | Ran HUGE first out at Saratoga, then threw in a clunker last out but that was off 3 months going off 4-5. Can certainly make amends and I think this one has a bright future.
COUNTRY HOUSE | 12/2/18 Aqueduct Race 2-2nd by 1/2 length | Bill Mott | Looked good in the paddock for the debut. Went off 49-1 and ran a really big 2nd closing from 8th. Hung a bit in the stretch, but faced a game one in Kentucky Wildcat. Should get better with time for Mott.
POSITIVE SPIRIT | 12/2/18 Aqueduct Race 4-1st by 10 1/2 lengths | Rodolphe Brisset | This one ran lights out, absolutely destroying the field in hand under Manny Franco. Bright star for sure.
WANTAGH QUEEN | 12/218 Aqueduct Race 5-4th by length | David Donk | First time David Donk and this one ran really well with a very poor ride by Jose Lezcano. In my opinion was much the best and look for this one with a better trip next trip. |
