6TH RACE: I am between #2 MISREAD (8-1) and #11 PLEASANT PASSAGE (6-1) on top and will give the slight edge to #2 MISREAD on top. Should be sitting the perfect trip in the second flight and like the fact that this one comes in fresh for trainer Tom Drury (19% off more than 180 day layoff). Always seems to run her race and really like the spot in her first start as a 5yo. Only three published works is a concern but positive jock switch to Luis Saez. Hoping to get 5-1. 7TH RACE: #1 ILLUSION (6-1), never nuts about the rail draw going 7 here but think this one has a big shot to improve off the debut. Was in chase mode from the word go and was at least 4 wide most of the way. Not the ideal trip on debut but still ran on in the stretch while green. The blinkers should help with all of that. Major rider switch from Leparoux to Irad and trainer Rudy Brisset is 35% with his maiden second time starters with a very healthy ROI of $3.10. 8TH RACE: #3 HIGHLAND CHIEF (5-1) will be my play in this spot. Coming off an 18 month layoff but Graham Motion knows how to get one ready off the bench. Has enough tactical speed to sit the perfect trip right behind the first flight and make first run for JV. Like the workout plan of three 5 furlong drills, a 6 furlong and 7 furlong. Fitness always the question coming off a layoff like this but nice to see a win over the local course, October of 2022.
